State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:
UW President Ed Seidel and six colleagues published a science policy perspective -- “High Performance Computing at a Crossroads” -- in Science, the flagship journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The paper calls for the U.S. government to organize a task force charged with creating a national roadmap for high-performance computing and pursuing a whole-nation approach to drive technological innovation. UW’s release announcing the university’s rise to R1 -- the upper echelon research university status -- continues to be in the news. Publishing UW’s release were Wyoming News Now and County 17.
The 2025 Trustees’ Scholars Award, UW’s top academic scholarship, was recently awarded to 100 incoming in-state students. Cap City News, Sheridan Media and County 10 published UW’s release that noted the scholarship provides a four-year scholarship for an undergraduate degree, including tuition, mandatory fees, and university standard double room and board.
Wyoming Public Radio interviewed U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia Joey Hood during his recent visit to the UW campus, where he met with university administration officials, faculty, staff and students. A strong educational partnership between UW and Tunisian universities and research institutions has developed for 20 years.
A wide range of topics was screened during the UW Honors College’s second annual Middle East Film Festival last weekend. Wyoming Public Radio reported that all six of the featured films have won awards and have been played at international film festivals around the world.
The Wyoming Integrated Test Center, managed by UW’s School of Energy Resources, has been selected to negotiate a substantial funding award to continue and expand testing operations for carbon dioxide capture, removal and conversion. The High Plains Journal reports that the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management has invested $101 million in five selected national test centers.
The Riverton Ranger published UW’s release noting that the Center for Energy Regulation and Policy Analysis at UW’s School of Energy Resources released a white paper exploring spent nuclear fuel management as part of a set of six articles delving into the economic feasibility of developing an integrated nuclear sector in Wyoming.
UW’s Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources is seeking organizations and individuals to support the Wild and Working Lands Film Festival later this spring in Laramie. Oil City News published UW’s release noting that the event will feature several thought-provoking films that explore the vital connections between people and the landscapes where they live, work and play.
Sheridan Media published UW’s announcement that the winter issue of UWyo Magazine -- UW’s flagship publication -- highlights research, innovation and entrepreneurship efforts.
