UW’s Artificial Intelligence Initiative was the focus of a Cowboy State Daily article, “Wyoming’s Artificial Intelligence Challenge: Make It Work For People, Not Other Way Around.” In September, the university announced nearly $9 million in funding -- $6.25 million in commitments from donors and industry matched by $2.5 million in state money -- to advance AI innovation across Wyoming.

UW Vice President for Research and Economic Development Parag Chitnis wrote an op-ed about UW’s research, education and service mission that was published by Cowboy State Daily, the Sheridan Press and the Wyoming Tribune Eagle, among other outlets.

UW’s IMPACT 307 business incubator was featured by Wyoming News Now.

UW’s School of Energy Resources has concluded nearly a decade of work on the Wyoming CarbonSAFE Project, one of 13 original carbon capture, utilization and storage sites in the U.S. The Laramie Boomerang picked up UW’s release on the topic.

Newly published UW research showing that wild horses across the West stay in good body condition by varying their diets was covered by WyoFile. The multiyear research project used a technology called DNA metabarcoding.

UW Associate Professor Jeff French is quoted in an MIT Technology Review article titled “Why it’s so hard to bust the weather control conspiracy theory.” French says cloud seeding has been proven to modify clouds, but the impact on precipitation is not enough to cause floods.

The Laramie Boomerang picked up UW’s release about the university being ranked No. 146 in the Research.com “Best Universities in United States 2025” list and No. 172 among U.S. universities in the “Best Global Universities” rankings by U.S. News.

Chris Bastian, a UW professor of agricultural economics, was quoted in a Wyoming Tribune Eagle article about President Donald Trump’s intent to import more beef from Argentina to reduce domestic prices. Bastian says the move would have some impact on consumer prices, but likely not a big impact.

UW Assistant Professor Meridith Joyce, who recently received a grant to further develop software tools aimed at determining the age of stars, appeared on the “Morning Show with Jake” on Cowboy State Daily.

Wyoming Public Media interviewed UW donor Lynne Simpson about the creation of the Pete and Lynne Simpson Student Enrichment Fund, which will support internship opportunities in the humanities for students in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Also published by Wyoming Public Media was an article about the small number of complaints alleging voter fraud received by the Wyoming secretary of state’s office. Such complaints can serve as a useful metric to determine what voters are concerned about when it comes to Wyoming elections, said Ryan Williamson, a UW assistant professor of political science who specializes in election administration.

The annual potato harvest at UW’s James C. Hageman Research and Extension Center was covered by Wyoming News Now, which noted that 80 volunteers picked over 11,000 pounds of potatoes to donate to the Food Bank of Wyoming.

The Laramie Boomerang publicized the UW Department of Theatre and Dance’s performance of the musical “Bright Star,” which is taking place at the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.
