State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming
and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:
The death of former Vice President Dick Cheney, a UW alumnus, received considerable
media attention in the past week. His contributions to international education opportunities
at UW was highlighted by Your Wyoming Link and the Casper Star-Tribune.
In a Cowboy State Daily article about the potential increase in coal demand as a result of artificial intelligence-fueled
electrical needs, UW economist Rob Godby says the long-term outlook for coal remains
dim.
Cowboy State Daily also quoted UW experts in an article about the potential for Wyoming to play a role
in America’s manufacturing comeback. Assistant Professor Abhay Grover says continuing
growth will depend on the kinds of products in question, and Manufacturing Works Director
Rocky Case says the focus should be on the needs of small to medium manufacturers
in Wyoming.
UW startup company CellDrop Biosciences was profiled by Cowboy State Daily. The company is working to create an injectable, regenerative stem cell therapy.
After hearing from UW Department of Atmospheric Science Head Jeff French, a Wyoming
legislative committee voted against a draft bill that would have placed a 10-year
moratorium on all cloud seeding activities in the state, according to County 10.
UW’s release on the start of the university’s presidential search was picked up by
the Laramie Boomerang.
The Boomerang also covered the appearance of the Wind River Dancers during UW’s Tipi Talks last
week.
The Boomerang and Sheridan Media were among the outlets that published UW’s release about another successful Giving
Day. During the 24-hour event, 9,271 donors contributed more than $4 million in support
of UW colleges, programs and student organizations.
UW Dean of Students Tyler Crisman, a native of Lusk, was profiled by the Lusk Herald. Crisman was one of the speakers at the recent UW in Your Community event in the Niobrara County seat.
