State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming
and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:
In a Governing magazine piece about Wyoming’s plans to use federal Rural Health Transformation Program
dollars, UW College of Health Sciences Dean Patrick Hardigan says the state plan is
intended to provide ongoing funding for important projects. These include scholarships
for nursing and physician students.
A recently released UW study that found migrating mule deer to be healthier than those
that don’t migrate was highlighted by High Country News. The UW scientists measured the animals’ fat levels and pregnancies and followed
them in the fall to document their fawns’ survival rates.
Wyoming Public Media reported on the Cent$ible Nutrition Program operated by UW Extension, which continues
to serve the people of Wyoming despite federal funding reductions.
UW’s Wyoming Survey and Analysis Center produced a report for the Wyoming Community
Foundation about the state’s high rate of youth incarceration, according to Sheridan Media. The report highlights that counties operate under different rules, resources and
processes, which creates a wide array of approaches in how children are treated.
Wyoming News Now produced a segment on the mural in UW’s new Dining Center. The 27-foot-tall mural,
titled “Beauty of the West,” was created by artist David Eaton.
The new bucking-horse-and-rider bronze in the intersection of Ivinson Avenue and 15th
Street on the UW campus is the focus of a Cowboy State Daily article. It was created by Casper sculptor Chris Navarro.
The Casper Star-Tribune and the Laramie Boomerang covered the UW Board of Trustees’ decision to create Upperclassman Hall at Orr, which
offers single-occupancy rooms at the same rate as double-occupancy rooms in UW’s new
residence halls.
The Boomerang covered a meeting of Wyoming Office of Tourism Executive Director Domenic Bravo with
representatives of UW’s Jay Kemmerer WORTH Institute and others. The meeting followed
the annual UW Tourism and Hospitality Fair.
The launch of a certification course for Wyoming fishing guides by UW’s Jay Kemmerer
WORTH Institute was noted by the Boomerang, Buckrail and the Powell Tribune.
The Boomerang also picked up UW’s release about two startup businesses, UW Nano and Wyonics, that
recently participated in national venture capital firm gener8tor’s gBETA Wyoming startup
accelerator, sponsored by Microsoft.
Oil City News and the Wyoming Tribune Eagle published UW’s release about the selection of UW’s 2026 Trustees’ Scholar Awards recipients.
