The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing at the University of Wyoming announces their 2025 Distinguished Alumna, Suzey Delger.
Suzey exemplifies the integrity, knowledge and passion for nursing that every nurse strives for. Suzey has had a diverse career in nursing including Public Health, School Nursing and Nurse Education. Suzey started her nursing career as a Public Health Nurse in Campbell County where she was a project associate for the Wyoming Human Human Services Team. She then opened the first Public Health Office in Johnson County and served as it's Public Health Director. Always being passionate about education, Suzey then focused her talents on nursing education where she was a Clinical Instructor for the University of Wyoming and then Lead Instructor for the Central Wyoming College's Division of Nursing. Suzey later became an Assistant Professor for the University of Wyoming as well as a Senior Lecturer. Suzey returned to her love for Public Health and was the Clinic Director for the Natrona County Health Department. She then proceeded to the Natrona County SChool where she served as a staff nurse and Nursing Coordinator. After retiring from the Natrona County School District, Suzey was asked to develop and launch an ADN Nursing Program for Eastern Wyoming College, Douglas Campus. Admitting 14 students in the Fall of 2016. Suzey has held numerous leadership roles in the Wyoming School Nurses' Association including President, Wyoming Director to the NASN Board of Directors, Treasurer and Education Chair. She has recieved numerous awards including the Casper Star Tribune Top Three Nurses in Wyoming, Wyoming School Nurses' Association School Nurse of the Year and was nominated for the University of Wyoming's Excellence in Teaching Award. Suzey has also served on many boards including the Casper College Nursing Advisory Board, the Wyoming Family Practice Board and the Wyoming Council for Women's Issues. I cannot think of a person who better exemplifies the "high call to nursing leadership" then Suzey Delger. Suzey is the nurse that we all want to be when we grow up!! She has touched so many nurses throughout our state.
