Emma-Jane Alexander, Associate Director of Industry Engagement, UW Office of Industry and Strategic Partnerships |
Emma-Jane Alexander has joined the University of Wyoming Office of Industry and Strategic Partnerships (OISP) as the new associate director of industry engagement.
The associate director of industry engagement is one of two new roles created to support industry collaborations with UW. Alexander will drive initiatives to expand partnerships on campus, fostering valuable connections that bridge academic and industry interests.
The OISP is a recent joint effort between the UW Research and Economic Development Division (REDD) and the UW Foundation. It was formed to enhance collaboration between the university and leading industry and agency partners to spur research, economic development, innovation, and other academic and workforce engagement. Alexander’s appointment signals a new chapter in advancing these collaborations, particularly with industry partners.
“Emma-Jane joining our team not only significantly enhances our capacity to meet the demands of our work with industry but diversifies the expertise of our team,” says UW Foundation Senior Director of Corporate Engagement Angela Ver Ploeg. “Her demonstrated dedication to industry-academic partnerships, in addition to her professional and education background, makes her uniquely qualified for this role. We are truly honored to have her join this team.”
With a career spanning 25 years across higher education and the private sector, Alexander brings a strong commitment to innovation, collaboration, and partnership. From 2014-2022, she served as manager of the 3D Visualization Center at UW’s School of Energy Resources. Most recently, she worked as a technical sales consultant for a global technology firm, further expanding her expertise in industry engagement.
Having earned a Bachelor of Science in visualization and an executive MBA with a focus on fostering digital communities between academia and industry, Alexander is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education at UW.
“For me, joining the Office of Industry and Strategic Partnerships as associate director of industry engagement is an incredible opportunity,” Alexander says. “I’m excited to bring my experience in fostering academia-industry collaborations to connect companies with UW, creating partnerships that not only support impactful research, teaching, and innovative programs, but also contribute to the student experience, institutional advancement, and workforce development. Together, we can build a legacy that will have a lasting positive impact.”
This new position within the OISP ensures expansion of the institution’s industry engagement enterprise and services, both for UW’s campus and the broader Wyoming industry community.
