Katie Schlomer, Coordinator of Industry Engagement, UW Office of Industry and Strategic Partnerships |
Katie Schlomer has joined the University of Wyoming Office of Industry and Strategic Partnerships (OISP) as the new industry engagement coordinator.
The industry engagement coordinator is one of two new roles created to support industry collaborations with UW. Schlomer will establish and maintain systems and execute project management activities, supporting campus-wide efforts to grow industry partnerships at UW.
The OISP is a recent joint effort between the UW Research and Economic Development Division (REDD) and the UW Foundation. It was formed to enhance collaboration between the university and leading industry and agency partners to spur research, economic development, innovation, and other academic and workforce engagement. Schlomer’s appointment signals a new chapter in advancing these collaborations, particularly with industry partners.
“Katie’s demonstrated ability to anticipate steps needed to successfully execute projects was evident throughout her interview for this role,” says UW Foundation Senior Director of Corporate Engagement Angela Ver Ploeg. “In addition, her experience walking alongside new programs as they were being built stood out as a quality that will be a critical component to our new office. We are eager to have Katie join this team.”
Schlomer most recently served as the Operations and Engagement Director for Interlochen Public Radio in Michigan. She brings extensive experience in operations and project management across a multiple-team organization.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining the Office of Industry and Strategic Partnerships team,” says Schlomer. “As the Industry Engagement Coordinator, I’m eager to leave no stone unturned as we seek to identify and develop holistic campus-industry partnerships across the State and region. I look forward to engaging with the many teams across the University that are already invested in student success and to the collaborations to come.”
This new position within the OISP ensures expansion of the institution’s industry engagement enterprise and services, both for UW’s campus and the broader Wyoming industry community.
