What are the technical skills expected of participants in this course?
Use a learning management system. UW uses WyoCourses (Canvas) as its LMS. If you are unfamiliar with WyoCourses (Canvas), see WyoCourses (Canvas): Getting Started and WyoCourses (Canvas): Helpful Tips.
Use software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email clients.
Perform basic computing tasks such as managing files (creating, saving, locating, renaming, and opening different file types) and copying and pasting.
Use basic troubleshooting skills (e.g., install/uninstall software, reset passwords, run computer software updates, disable/enable pop-up blockers, clear browser’s cache, etc.).
Send and download attachments.
Use online communication tools such as email, discussion forums, and chats.
Use your UW Zoom account to attend live class sessions and office hours. On the WyoWeb portal, locate the Zoom icon (third icon from the right). The page opens to the UW Zoom account login page. Click Sign In and use your UW credentials (the same as for WyoCourses) to log in. For joining Live Sessions or office hours, it is best to download the Zoom app for your preferred device and click the link provided by your instructor to launch Zoom.

WyoCourses (Canvas) is optimized for desktop displays. However, if you are using a mobile device, you can access WyoCourses (Canvas) using a mobile application (app) or mobile browser.
Mobile Apps: For the best user experience, please download the Canvas mobile app. The Canvas mobile apps require Android 8.0 or later and iOS 15.0 or later. Canvas offers limited support for native mobile browsers on tablet devices. For additional details, please reference the limited-support mobile browser guidelines.
Mobile Browsers: Visit the Apple store or the Play store to download mobile browsers. The following major browsers are compatible with mobile devices:
