The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences offers more than 275 merit-based scholarships per year, including several scholarships created specifically for petroleum engineering students. We are not able to post a full list of these scholarships, however students can contact the CEPS Advising office to learn more about scholarships available to them. You must be admitted to the University of Wyoming to submit the General Application in WyoScholarships to be considered. Applications are generally open January 15 – March 15.

This scholarship fully covers tuition for students enrolled in the drilling-focused master's programs. Students attending on campus may also receive a graduate stipend. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or Green Card holders with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. While prior experience in drilling engineering is preferred, applicants who have demonstrated a strong interest in drilling or have field experience are also encouraged to apply. For more details, please reach out to the department (pete-info@uwyo.edu) or Dr. Tawfik Elshehabi.
Established in 2011 by Randy and Shelly Eresman, the Eresman Family Engineering Endowment is a competitive scholarship available to undergraduate and graduate students from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) interested in transferring to the University of Wyoming in pursuit of an energy and petroleum degree.
Beyond the scholarships offered through the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences and UW Student Financial Aid, our department is fortunate to receive numerous additional scholarship opportunities directly from industry professional organizations and chapters. Our students frequently compete with peers from other regional institutions that also offer Petroleum Engineering programs. Below are some of the esteemed organizations from which our students have earned scholarships:
