September 22, 2014 — An article by University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy faculty Mary Onsyko, Pharm.D., BCPS, Jeremy Vandiver, Pharm.D., BCPS, Melissa Hunter, Pharm.D., and Tracy Mahvan, Pharm.D., titled, "Statin Adverse Effects: Sorting out the Evidence," has been published in the September issue of the Journal of Family Practice.
This review article discusses the evidence from studies done about the adverse effects of statins and provides insight and summaries of the findings.
Onysko is a clinical associate professor of pharmacy practice and an assistant clinical professor with the Swedish Family Medicine Residency affiliated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado; Vandiver is a clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice and an inpatient clinical pharmacist with the Swedish Family Medicine Residency Program at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado; Hunter is the director of the UW School of Pharmacy Drug Information Center; and Mahvan is an associate professor of pharmacy practice at the Salud Family Health Center in Longmont, Colorado.
