Marinell Schoening, Songlin Cai, Brian Martisius, and Quyen Bui represented the UW NCPA chapter at the RxPlus Pharmacies annual meeting in August. November 21, 2014 — Quyen Bui, Songlin Cai, Brian Martisius, and Marinell Schoening had the opportunity to attend the RxPlus Pharmacies annual meeting located in Westminster, Colorado, August 14–16, 2014, as representatives of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) student chapter from the University of Wyoming.

Each year, four NCPA members are invited to the RxPlus meeting to help out with events such as assisting with tasks at the golf course, selling raffle tickets, setting up the exhibit hall, etc. The UW NCPA chapter also had their own booth at the exhibit hall in which they sold UW pharmacy merchandise and raffled off a bottle of Wyoming Whiskey.

It is a great place for students to learn about independent pharmacy and talk with independent pharmacy owners. Other educational opportunities include CE sessions such as how to start your own pharmacy and CPR renewal. When asked about what she thought of her experience, Songlin Cai said, “We are very thankful to be able to come here every year. It’s a great opportunity and it’s wonderful to meet so many people who want nothing but for you to succeed. It’s also a really good fundraiser for our chapter.”
