Rich Barrans

Dr. Barrans received a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Caltech in 1993, then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Los Alamos National Lab in the area of metals separation.  He joined the staff of the chemistry division of Argonne National Lab in 1995, again working in metals separation.  In 2000, he became assistant director of the PG Research Foundation, a spin-off of his former Argonne group.  In 2003, he enrolled in John Carroll University’s department of education, receiving his Master of Education degree and teaching certification in 2004.  He has been teaching at UW since 2005.
