Constructive Dialogue Training

As part of the Free Expression, Intellectual Freedom, and Constructive Dialogue Initiative, the University of Wyoming offers a wealth of opportunities to learn about and practice constructive dialogue. The ability to listen, express oneself, and disagree constructively is central to the university’s goal of advancing knowledge. Constructive dialogue skills are not only useful for facilitating intellectual exchange, but also for facilitating cultural exchange, managing conflict, participating in a pluralistic society, and collaborating in the workplace.

A majority of employers surveyed by the American Association of Colleges & Universities (AACU) said that they look to hire people who have had exposure to diverse viewpoints and can engage constructively in contentious or complex dialogue. Many employers also said that they value job candidates with microcredentials. (Read about the AACU report here.)
