Grading System

Office of the Registrar


Mid-term grade reports are mailed by the Office of the Registrar to your local address. Check the mid-term report to verify that you are enrolled in the correct courses and sections and that the correct grading method is recorded. If you notice any problems with your registration, you should contact the Office of the Registrar immediately.

Midterm and final grades are not mailed, but can be accessed on your Student Resources tab on WyoWeb.

Final grades are defined as follows:

Failure This may also be assigned as a grade for failure to attend or for failure to officially withdraw from the class.

Incomplete
This is intended as a temporary mark pending completion of course work as agreed upon in a signed document.

W

0.000

Withdrawal
This mark is assigned when you officially withdraw from either a course or all courses. If you enroll in a class and then stop attending without following the official withdrawal procedure, you will be assigned a grade of F.

S

0.000

Satisfactory
This is equivalent to a grade of C or better for all 1000-4999 courses and is equivalent to a B or better for all courses numbered 5000 or above. See the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory section for more information.

U

0.000

Mid-Term Grades

Instructors are required to submit mid-term grades for all classes numbered below 5000. Grades which may be assigned by faculty are:

For students performing A, B or C level work.

D

Poor

F

Failure
This grade may also be assigned for failure to attend class or to indicate failure to officially withdraw from the class.

S

Satisfactory
This is equivalent to a grade of C or better in cases where the class is offered for S/U only or if you have elected the S/U option.

U

Unsatisfactory
This is equivalent to a grade of D or F and is assigned when the class is offered for S/U only or if you have elected the S/U option.

UK

Unknown
Instructors may assign this mark if, due to lack of performance assessments such as exams, papers, homework, etc., the instructor is unable to make a determination of a midterm grade.

NR

No Report
A mark of NR will be recorded when no grade has been submitted by the instructor by the deadline.
