Welcome Back from the University of Wyoming Research and Economic Development Division
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to a new academic year at the University of Wyoming! As we begin this journey together, we are excited to see our campus come alive with energy and curiosity. To our returning students and faculty, thank you for continuing to enrich our community with your dedication to learning, discovery, and service. To those who are joining UW for the first time, we warmly welcome you to a university that values innovation, ideas, and the spirit of the West.
Last week, the Research and Economic Development Division (REDD) staff and I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with our new faculty and discussing how REDD supports the pursuit of external funding to advance research, education, and engagement goals—work that is central to fulfilling our land-grant mission – resources, expertise, and infrastructure at REDD are available to help you transform your ideas into impact and fuel success.
I invite you to take part in Innovation Week, September 2–5, 2025, a campus-wide celebration of translational research, entrepreneurship, and economic impacts. Organized by many units across REDD, these events will highlight UW’s innovative spirit and bring together faculty, students, and partners from across the state and beyond. Details about the program can be found on this website: Innovation Week.
Next month, REDD will restart its town halls to provide updates on the evolving federal funding landscape, policies, budgets, and programs. We will also introduce the wide range of resources available at REDD. The town halls offer opportunities to stay informed, ask questions, and connect with the teams dedicated to supporting your work. We’ll communicate details on the next one via our website, the UWYO Events Calendar, and the Faculty and Staff Listservs.
As we launch into the year ahead, I encourage each of you to take full advantage of the resources, trainings, and opportunities that REDD provides. We continue to foster extramurally funded Wyoming-relevant work that positions us nationally in obtaining competitive funding and makes us globally preeminent. All of us in REDD look forward to serving your pursuit of knowledge, collaborations, innovation, and service to the majestic state of Wyoming.
Sincerely,
Parag Chitnis
