Seed Translational Research Grants

Grants for Accelerating Research Translation

Two STRP (Seed Translational Research Program) grants will be funded each year, each for a period of up to two years. Projects must fall within NSF-supported areas, and demonstrate a clear path from fundamental research to translational impact.

The objectives of STRP grants are to:

  • achieve a prototype in an accelerated manner (in less than two years); and
  • demonstrate use in an environment relevant to the innovation.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must be employees and/or students at the University of Wyoming. Details are provided in the STRP application guidelines (link below).

Proposal Process

Letter of Intent (LOI): Each year, the submission process will open with a request for LOIs. Each LOI will be reviewed internally to determine if the proposed project meets STRP requirements.
Proposal: Qualifying projects will be asked to submit a full proposal.
Proposal Review: Proposals will be reviewed by a panel of outside experts.

Proposal Requirements

Proposed projects should be highly focused, with a clearly defined path for tangible deliverables.
The project description should provide details on how customer identification, user-centered design, development, validation, and testing of prototypes for specific potential customers will be performed and outline anticipated societal and/or economic impact.
Proposals should include a timeline and an exit strategy.
