Description of Technology:

Oil Recovery by Sequential Waterflooding with Oil Reinjection and Oil Relocation is a method for improving oil recovery from a previously waterflooded reservoir by recharging a portion of the reservoir with oil and waterflooding the recharged portion of the reservoir, forming a growing oil bank that advances ahead of the waterflooding. The waterflooding step uses brine.

Applications:

This method can be used to improve on existing methods for oil recovery from reservoirs.

Features and Benefits:

A benefit of this technology will be to reduce the amount of residual oil trapped in existing oil reservoirs, allowing greater recovery from each reservoir. This method includes mature reservoirs that produce at high water-to-oil ratios.
