The University of Wyoming, as Wyoming's land-grant university, has been named by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) as an EDA University Center (UC). The program, funded by the EDA over 5 years, supports restructuring of the referral (concierge) system amongst UW's units responsible for entrepreneurship, innovation, and business services, and bolsters statewide networks and referral systems. The UC works in coordination with the Wyoming Business Council and statewide economic development offices to map online business resources and to increase awareness of and refer clients to business support service providers.
In addition to the entrepreneurship/business services concierge and mapping system, the UW UC also supports high-growth entrepreneurship and business development through offsetting some costs of economic analysis and training/professional development that Wyoming communities and businesses would otherwise have to incur. The UW UC project is executed through both the EDA funding and partnerships with the Wyoming Innovation Partnership, the Wyoming Business Council, UW's Center for Business & Economic Analysis, and UW's Manufacturing Works.
