Walk-In Service Center / ResNet

The Information Technology  Walk-In Service Center and ResNet are services that Information Technology provides to help students, faculty, and staff with personal computers and mobile devices.  The Center is located in the ITC room 160 and is typically open Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm with reduced hours during breaks and the summer months.  The Service Center is closed during all University holidays.   

The goal of the Walk-In Service Center is to be an area where clients can come to receive assistance and advice with their personal computers and mobile devices.  A main function of the center is to help teach clients while providing the needed assistance.  Because we view this service as a teaching function, we do not allow devices to be dropped off to be repaired.  We require clients take an active role and remain with their device while any repair work is underway.   Below is a list of expectations and services that we provide.   


Expectations:

  • Services provided are available only to enrolled students, faculty and staff of UW.
  • In an effort to provide quality service and good hands on experience, we require our clients to take an active role in the repair of their computers or setup of their mobile devices.
  • All clients who receive assistance at the Service Center are required to review, fill out and sign the Service Center Work Form.
  • We encourage our clients to ask questions, and we will make every effort to answer them.

  • Virus and Malware removal
  • System Clean/tune up
  • Computer Reformatting
  • Hardware Diagnostics
  • Operating system installations
  • Program installations
  • One on one consulting of computing needs
  • Setup Email and Wireless on mobile devices
  • Network troubleshooting for Residence Halls, Landmark, Spanish Walk, River Village Apartments, and Sororities and Fraternities connected to the UW network.
