Wyoming State Science FairJudging at Wyoming State Science Fair
Two groups of judges evaluate students' projects at the Wyoming State Science Fair: Category Award judges and Special Award judges. Judges include University of Wyoming and community professionals and experts within the categories. Most judges have a PhD degree in their scientific field or extensive professional experience as a working scientist.
Category Awards judges interact with students and engage them in a discussion about their research and projects. The top projects are then selected within each category. Awards are given to first through third places in the Junior (grades 6-8) and Senior (grades 9-12) divisions.
Wyoming State Science Fair Judging Criteria (same as International Science & Engineering Fair)
Special Awards judges evaluate research and projects to determine winners of more than 20 awards sponsored by professional organizations and University departments and colleges. The Special Awards are awarded based on specific agency criteria sponsoring the award.
