Spencer's academic journey began with a B.A. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Wyoming, where he investigated topics such as reinforcement learning, evolutionary algorithms, computational vision, and high-performance computing. His expertise spans AI engineering, data science, machine learning, and software development, with significant experience in enterprise transformation, innovation, and analytics. Spencer’s teaching philosophy emphasizes experiential learning. He has collaborated with industry partners, leading initiatives that resulted in significant investments and groundbreaking advancements in applied machine learning. His role as a co-founder of an AI Laboratory and his work with various institutions have led to a passion in innovation and education in applied AI, machine learning, and software engineering.
Research interests are on cutting-edge areas within AI and machine learning, predictive analytics, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and knowledge retrieval.
Teaching includes a role as a Mathematics Instructor at Laramie County Community College, instructing Algebra I, II, and III courses, with innovations funding to integrate robotics programming into the curricula.
I also taught COSC 2030 laboratory as a graduate student. Additionally, Spencer holds a Yoga Teacher Certificate and has taught neuroscience and yoga classes.
