2. Complete the Graduate Application online

3. Complete and Upload Documents: The following documents are required components of the Advanced Standing MSW Program application.  Please have them prepared and available to upload to your online application.

  • Unofficial College Transcripts
  • Your Personal Essay So, how does our admissions philosophy relate to your application? It is essential that you help us discover who you are, what is important to you, and how you would flourish on UW’s campus. Let us hear your authentic voice. Tell us your story in your personal essay. We look forward to reviewing your accomplishments, learning about your dreams, and getting a sense of what you might contribute to the university community. Each one of you is different. Your application should not look like anyone else’s. Your experiences, hopes, dreams, accomplishments, and interests are yours and yours alone. Be sure to let that come through in your application.
  • Resume - All students must submit a detailed resume of their work and volunteer experience.  Please include, at the end of the resume, a 1-2 page brief description of social services experience in your work or volunteer time and how these experiences contribute to your readiness for the social work graduate program.  Please include the number of hours for each.

You will also need three letters of recommendation from a professional source.  At the end of your application, you will be asked to provide your recommenders names and email addresses.  The application program will email them a link, which they can use to upload their letters.  You will not be able to upload letters yourself.

Note: International students applying to the University of Wyoming must complete additional information that can be found on the Graduate International Student Admissions page.

Background Check Information: All students are required to complete a background check prior to admission in the program. Please complete the background check through the University of Wyoming's College of Health Sciences as part of your admissions process. Please review the College of Health Sciences Background Check Policy for more information. Start your Background Check.

Academic credit for life experience and previous work experience is not given, in whole or in part, in lieu of the field practicum or for courses in the professional foundation areas specified in the CSWE Educational and Accreditation Standards.
