Student Health Services is available to full-time students and part-time students who have paid the appropriate fees. The are located in the Student Health building. The hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except during the summer when the hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). If you are a part-time undergraduate student, with 6-11.5 credit hours, or a part time graduate student, you may purchase a benefit package. This will make you eligible to use Student Health and other services available to full-time students. During the hours that Student Health is closed, students must use other facilities that are available in the community, such as Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
Enrollment in, or waiver from, the University of Wyoming Student Medical Insurance Program has no effect on eligibility to use Student Health Services.
Student Medical Insurance is available to UW students, which covers most of the cost of services at Student Health (such as lab tests, etc,) and for some medical care that is not available at Student Health Services, including treatment of major injuries, surgery, and hospitalization. For more information, go to room 248 Knight Hall.
Student Health Services is available for emergencies as well as for more routine medical situations. Some of the treatment services that Student Health offers are:
Acute and ongoing illness
Acute injury
Minor surgical procedures
Women's health
Mental health
Men's health
Physical examinations
Wellness
Anonymous/confidential HIV testing
In case an emergency situation arises, it is advisable for students with chronic medical conditions or disabilities to have copies of their records on file with Student Health. The phone number for Student Health is 766-2130 (TTY: 766-2132).
A Pharmacy is also available at Student Health Services. Prescription and over-the-counter needs are available at a reduced cost. Pharmacy hours are the same as Student Health. The Pharmacy phone number is 766-6602 (TTY: 766-2132).
Remember that emotional health is part of the package that is "you". Student Health offers mental health counseling in addition to medical treatment. If an emergency situation occurs after hours, students must use other services, such as Ivinson Memorial Hospital (742-2142 ext. 2222), or the After Hours Nurse Advice Line (766-2130). Contact the University Police by dialing "911" (V/TTY) for medical or fire emergencies. Use 766-5179 for non-emergencies such as theft or vandalism reports.
