  • Paid approximately $15,000 for the 2013 Copy and Print Center renovation to cover expenses of new sustainabile lighting.
  • Use of Green Seal Certified cleaning supplies.
  • Installed over 140 new double pane windows to increase building efficiency.
  • Installed motion detectors for lights in storage rooms, offices and meeting rooms where appropriate.
  • Support for the Good Mule initiative and environmental justice.
  • A member of the Union staff is on the Campus Sustainability Committee.
  • Replacement of florescent lights.
  • Water bottle refill stations at all drinking fountains to promote refilling reusable water bottles in lieu of purchasing plastic water bottles.
  • Purchase and placement of extra recycle bins. Our goal is to have a recycle bin next to ALL trash cans.
  • UW Dining Services operates all food services in the Union. They use compostable plates, cups, etc. when possible.
