Suzanne Schrag, Care Services with the ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease) Association Rocky Mountain chapter, will be the final speaker in a seminar series focusing on ALS.

She will speak Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m. in the University of Wyoming Berry Center auditorium. Schrag will present an overview of how the disease affects families, and explain what the Rocky Mountain chapter does for persons living with ALS.

Colette Kuhfuss, family member of an ALS patient, will give her personal account of caring for her husband and their journey with ALS.

The seminar series was organized by UW’s CHAP (Community Health Advancement Program) in response to the popularity of the ALS ice bucket challenge. The goal is to help students and others interested in the topic to gain a better understanding of what the disease is about and its effects on the patients and their loved ones.

CHAP encourages students interested in health care professions by coordinating student volunteers to get involved in community volunteering and activism projects. CHAP also hosts seminars and video series on different topics relating to health care.
