UW Trustees to Consider Three Finalists for Presidency

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has identified three finalists for the university presidency and scheduled public appearances on campus for each beginning Monday, Dec. 7.

The candidates are Jeremy Haefner, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Henrietta, N.Y.; Duane Nellis, president of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas; and Laurie Nichols, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D.

Here’s the schedule for each finalist:

Duane Nellis -- Monday, Dec. 7

9:30-10:30 a.m. -- Meeting with faculty, Education Building auditorium.

10:45-11:45 a.m. -- Meeting with students, Arts and Sciences auditorium.

1:15-2:15 p.m. -- Meeting with staff, Classroom Building, Room 129.

3-4 p.m. -- Open forum, public presentation and question-and-answer session for all interested faculty, staff, students and members of the community, UW Conference Center.

Laurie Nichols -- Wednesday, Dec. 9

9:30-10:30 a.m. -- Meeting with faculty, Education Building auditorium.

10:45-11:45 a.m. -- Meeting with students, Arts and Sciences auditorium.

1:15-2:15 p.m. -- Meeting with staff, Classroom Building, Room 129.

3-4 p.m. -- Open forum, public presentation and question-and-answer session for all interested faculty, staff, students and members of the community, UW Conference Center.

People unable to attend the faculty, student, staff and community meetings with the finalists may watch the events, live or recorded, via UW’s WyoCast system. Those links will be available on the presidential search webpage, www.uwyo.edu/presidentsearch/.

Each candidate will interview with the Board of Trustees at 5 p.m. on each of the three days at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center, followed by informal evening receptions and dinner with the trustees and other invited guests. The interviews will take place in executive sessions of the board.

During their visits to campus, the finalists also will meet with UW’s Executive Council, deans and directors, among other activities.

The Board of Trustees seeks public input on the candidates before it fulfills its responsibility to select the new president. People are invited to share their thoughts and perspectives with the board by answering online questionnaires that have been established for each finalist at the following sites:
