UW Homecoming New Activities Planned

The University of Wyoming Alumni Association is welcoming back alumni and friends to campus to celebrate the brown and gold spirit with newly planned activities for Homecoming Oct. 1-8. This year’s theme is “Once a Cowboy, Always a Cowboy.”

Alumni and friends have the opportunity to preregister for Homecoming and to receive a 2016 Homecoming gift bag, says Emily Cain, UW Alumni Association (UWAA) special events coordinator. The gift bag will include a collapsible water bottle, tote bag, lanyard and UWAA sticker. A Homecoming schedule booklet and a discount coupon to the University Store (discount based on graduation year) also will be available.

Preregistration is open at http://wyoalumni.uwyo.edu/hc2016 and will close at midnight Tuesday, Oct. 4. Cost is $10 per person and is nonrefundable. Gift bags will be available for pickup in the Blalock Family Room at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center (222 S. 22nd St.) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, and from 8-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Homecoming gift bags will be available to the first 500 people who preregister, Cain says.

The Alumni Association is introducing the new “All Alumni and Friends Reunion with Pep Rally” from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at the Gateway Center. The pep rally begins at 7 p.m. The cost is $10 per person (nonrefundable) and includes two drink tickets for beer, wine or non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks. Additional beverages may be purchased at a cash bar.

Online registration is now open and will close at midnight Tuesday, Oct. 4. To register, go to http://wyoalumni.uwyo.edu/hc2016.

“Once online registration has closed, you may pay the day of the event,” Cain says.

Drink tickets will be available at the registration table, and parking for the event is available in the Ford Stadium Lot outside the Gateway Center. Participants are urged to wear brown and gold colors.

The 50th Club Reunion activities are scheduled Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 6-8.

“Traditionally, only the 50-year class has celebrated with a reunion over Homecoming, but this year the Alumni Association is starting a new tradition,” Cain says.

The reunion will now celebrate the 50-year induction of the Class of 1966 and all alumni who have graduated earlier. Registration is open through Monday, Sept. 19, at http://wyoalumni.uwyo.edu/50ClubReunion, or email Cain at ecain1@uwyo.edu to be emailed or mailed a registration packet. Registration for the Homecoming gift bag and the “All Alumni and Friends Reunion with Pep Rally” is included in the 50-year reunion registration fee.

For Homecoming updates, visit www.uwyo.edu/homecoming, or call the Alumni Association office at (307) 766-4166. The event schedule, including downtown activities, will be available online in August.
