Lowe to Retire as UW Fiscal Administration AVP

A search for a new associate vice president for fiscal administration will begin soon at the University of Wyoming, as longtime UW fiscal officer Janet Lowe has announced she will retire.

Lowe, a UW graduate who has worked for the university since 1994, will conclude her UW career Dec. 21.

“We are grateful for Janet’s dedicated service to the university,” Vice President for Administration Bill Mai says. “She has been a stalwart member of UW’s fiscal team for many years, and she has provided strong expertise and leadership throughout the evolution of the university’s fiscal system.”

Lowe became UW’s controller in May 2002 and was promoted to associate vice president in 2006. From April 2012 to November 2013, she served as interim vice president for fiscal administration. As associate vice president for fiscal administration, she has had administrative responsibility for UW financial services operations, including budget, institutional analysis, accounting, procurement, taxes and investments, student loans, student account billing and cashier operations.

In addition, she has overseen external audit engagement and has served as a liaison to the UW Board of Trustees’ Fiscal and Legal Affairs Committee.

Lowe also has been a member of the president’s Executive Council, the UW Athletics Planning Committee and on the board of directors of the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries, of which UW is a member.

Lowe received a bachelor’s degree with honors in accounting from UW in 1987 and became a certified public accountant in 1990. She joined the UW staff in 1994 as the taxes and investments analyst before managing the Financial Services Business Office from 1996-2002.
