The University of Wyoming Faculty Recital Series will feature Duo François Monday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The performance is free and open to the public.

Duo François is a collaboration between Colorado State University professor of violin Ron François and pianist Silvana Santinelli. The concert will feature music from the duo’s new CD, “Works by Sergei Prokofiev and Others,” including the title track, “One After One in Time.”

In addition to his duties as head of the CSU string division, François regularly performs as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. He is a former member of I Music de Montreal and the Colorado-based Mendelssohn Trio. He has collaborated with musicians from some of the best-known orchestras, including numerous performances with Boris Garlitsky, former concertmaster of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and violin and professor at the Paris Conservatoire; Arkady Fomin from the Dallas Symphony; and members of the Colorado and St. Louis Symphony orchestras.

As an active clinician, François has established strong ties with universities and conservatories in several countries.

Santinelli, a piano soloist who has performed in Russia, Czech Republic, France, Canada, China, Switzerland, the United States and her native Mexico, is a former Fulbright Scholar. She won the Mexican national piano competition and, at age 14, she made her solo debut with the San Antonio Symphony, performing the Ravel “Piano Concerto in G Major,” after winning first prize in the Young Artist Award Competition.

Her awards include being named the winner of the Ulrich Piano Competition, the French International Piano Festival Competition and the Josef Hoffman International Piano Competition. Santinelli has been a frequent guest and lecturer at the University of Guanajuato and Conservatorio de Celaya in Mexico. She maintains a private studio in Fort Collins and is the assistant director of the chamber music academy of Off the Hook Arts.

As recent recipients of the prestigious Mexican FONCA artist grant, Duo François commissioned three new works for violin and piano, including works by Juno award-winning Canadian composer Andrew Paul MacDonald and American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers-Morton Gould-winning composer James David.

A double concerto for violin and piano by Pulitzer finalist, Mexican composer Juan Trigos, completed the project.
