UW Seeks Supervisors for Social Work Students
The University of Wyoming’s Division of Social Work is looking for a number of professional social workers to volunteer to provide off-site supervision of students who are in their practicum placements.
Of 68 UW social work students who are taking part in practicum placements in the 2017-18 academic year, eight still need supervisors, says Shontay Roe, the Division of Social Work’s field education director. Students may be supervised by people with bachelor’s or master’s degrees in social work.
“Not all Wyoming agencies are fortunate to have a social worker employed and/or on-site to provide our students with the guided learning experience that is required,” Roe says. “This is an opportunity for those in the field to influence and shape the future of professional social workers in many areas of service. For those willing to volunteer, we can match your agency interest with the supervision need.”
Anyone who is interested in volunteering, or who has questions, should contact Roe at sroe2@uwyo.edu or (307) 766-5658.
