University of Wyoming Calendar for Nov. 6

These are among the activities scheduled Nov. 6-12 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Nov. 6-Friday, Nov. 10 -- The reading of Holocaust victims’ names for Holocaust Remembrance Week will take place in the Wyoming Union breezeway.

Monday, Nov. 6, 3:10 p.m. -- The UW Department of Geology and Geophysics Distinguished Lecturer Series presents James Zachos, an earth and planetary sciences professor at the University of California-Santa Cruz. He will discuss “Intensification of the Hydrological Cycle during Early Eocene Hyperthermals: Theory versus Observations” in the S.H. Knight Geology Building, Room 216. A reception will follow in the UW Geological Museum. Free.

Monday, Nov. 6, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Music presents a Community Band and Civic Chorus concert in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. Tickets cost $6 for students; $7 for senior citizens; and $10 for the public. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m. -- The UW Department of Art and Art History presents Sherri Jaudes, a visiting artist in metalsmithing. She will give an artist talk in the Visual Arts Building, Room 111. A reception will follow. Free.

Tuesday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “This Month’s Sky.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 5 p.m. -- UW will host a live speaker broadcast of Simon Sinek, author and TED Talk speaker, in the Classroom Building, Room 133. Free.

Wednesday, Nov. 8, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series presents “An Evening of Brahms” in the Performing Arts recital hall. Free.

Thursday, Nov. 9, 6 p.m. -- Dennis Prager, a national radio talk show host, author and founder of Prager University, will speak in the UW College of Education Building auditorium. Free.

Thursday, Nov. 9, 7 p.m. -- Studio WYO presents musical artists Bob Lefevre and Moral Panic. They will perform in the Wyoming Union Gardens, located in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. Free.

Thursday, Nov. 9, 7 p.m. -- The UW Department of Art and Art History presents Morgan Price, a visiting artist in printmaking. He will give an artist talk in the Visual Arts Building, Room 111. Free.

Thursday, Nov. 9, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “Aboriginal Skies: Land of the Lightning People.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Friday, Nov. 10, 7 p.m. -- Cowboy basketball vs. University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Arena-Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

Friday, Nov. 10, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “Aboriginal Skies: Land of the Lightning People.” A free STAR Observatory tour (weather dependent) follows at 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement.
