UW Choirs Present Choral Collage Concert Nov. 10

University of Wyoming choirs will present “A Choral Collage” Friday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

The concert will feature the Collegiate Chorale, the Bel Canto Women’s Choir, the UW Happy Jacks and the UW Singing Statesmen.

Tickets cost $10 for the public, $7 for senior citizens and $6 for students. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union information desk and the Performing Arts box office, by calling (307) 766-6666 or going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

The Bel Canto Women’s Choir, directed by UW Department of Music Assistant Professor Holly Dalrymple, will perform themed pieces of uniting people through singing. The UW Singing Statesmen will perform a set commemorating the end of World War I and “Yellow Bird,” a piece made popular by Harry Belafonte. The group is directed by Nicole Lamartine, UW associate professor of music.

The UW Collegiate Chorale will present an American folk hymn, titled “Idumea,” from the movie “Cold Mountain,” and will be directed by Katrina Rooney. The performance will end with the UW Happy Jacks presenting a variety of contemporary pop tunes.

The concert, featuring high school students from around the state and region, is in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Festival of Voices. Students will join the UW choirs for a day of rehearsals, workshops and performances.

The concert also features the 2017 Outstanding Wyoming Choral Music Educator Award presented to Marcia Patton, a Wyoming music educator and director of the Casper Children’s Chorale.
