University of Wyoming Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program Coordinator Tanner Russell is transitioning to a new position within the College of Business.

Russell will assist department heads in leading the college’s graduate online and professional degree programs of M.S. in accounting, M.S. in finance and the MBA programs. The staff change continues the College of Business’ redesign of operations as it executes its new strategic plan, says David Sprott, dean of the college.

“The goal of this transition is to encourage the growth and enhance the support of the college’s online and professional degree programs,” Sprott says. “Tanner has long been a trusted source of guidance and leadership, always putting our students first, as well as an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement. We are grateful and excited for her to take on this new leadership role.”

Russell’s contributions over the years to the college’s MBA Program have left a lasting impact in stewarding students and external stakeholders’ graduate programming experiences, resulting in the College of Business’ online program’s first national ranking, Sprott adds.

Russell received her B.S. degree in business administration (2013) from Fort Hays State University and an MBA degree (2014) from UW. Russell began her career as an entrepreneur, where she developed and eventually sold the Guernsey restaurant Twister’s Eatery. She brings data processing and information systems analysis expertise from serving as quality assurance manager for the Walmart Distribution Center in Cheyenne. Returning to UW in 2015, Russell led the MBA Program recruitment efforts before moving into the MBA Program coordinator position.

“We are excited about the new leadership changes taking place in the College of Business as we continue to relentlessly focus on providing a quality business education aligned with the needs of the marketplace and strengthen value-added relationships with our external stakeholders,” Sprott says.

Russell says she looks forward to continuing to improve the graduate education experience for the college’s students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders.

“My goals will be focused on strategically growing and strengthening online and professional graduate programs; working with designated departments to implement consistent admissions processes; and working closely with UW Graduate Education to ensure consistency in graduate education practices,” she says.
