The University of Wyoming Wind Symphony will present its Fall Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Tickets are $12 for the public, $8 for senior citizens and $6 for students. To purchase tickets, visit the Performing Arts box office or the Wyoming Union information desk, call (307) 766-6666 or go online at www.tix.com/ticket-sales/uwyo/6984.

The UW Wind Symphony’s 2022-23 season opener features popular tunes that are particular favorites of Conductor Robert Belser, ranging from one of Gioachino Rossini’s “Sins of Old Age” through band standards and ending with a popular John Philip Sousa piece.

The program includes the Italian tarantella “La Danza” by Rossini; the classic band work “Variations on a Korean Folk Song” by J.B. Chance; a pensive slow tune, “Méditation from ‘Thais’” by Jules Massenet; the classic “Star Wars” piece “March of the Resistance” by John Williams; Americana at its best in “Old American Songs” by Aaron Copland; the often-heard melody “Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy; a rhapsody of five eastern European folk songs in “Armenian Dances” by Alfred Reed; and the most popular American march, Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

For more information about the concert, call Kathy Kirkaldie, UW Fine Arts coordinator, at (307) 766-2160 or email kirisk@uwyo.edu.
