UW and Wyoming SBDC Network Host Third Webinar in State Trade Expansion Program Series

The Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network continues its six-part webinar series about the State Trade Expansion Program that will guide small-business owners through the steps to expand into international trade and to provide real-world examples from successful Wyoming small-business exporters.

Multiple speakers will provide an overview of export regulations and basic guidelines to working with legal counsel to ensure small-business owners and their companies are protected and in compliance during the third webinar in the series titled “Legal and Technical Questions” from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8. To register, go here. Registration is free.

Speakers are Molly Ho, a senior international trade specialist with the U.S. Commercial Service, and Nathan Nicholas, an attorney at Hathaway & Kunz LLP. Using a network of trade promotion and policy professionals located in more than 100 U.S. offices and 75 international markets, the U.S. Commercial Service assists U.S. businesses in international markets.

Nicholas was raised in Laramie and is a fourth-generation Wyoming attorney. He has a diverse professional background, ranging from robotics engineering to energy policy and corporate counsel. He speaks Mandarin Chinese and has managed corporate ventures throughout China and Australasia.

In 2019, Wyoming companies exported more than $1.37 billion in goods to the world. Of the companies that export, 97 percent are small businesses.

The webinar training series is presented in collaboration with the Wyoming Business Council, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), U.S. Department of Commerce and the Wyoming Procurement Technical Assistance Center. This series will help small businesses evaluate whether exporting might be right for them; help them develop an initial exporting plan; and explain how to access grant funding that may be available in Wyoming to help offset some of the costs of becoming export ready.

Future webinars in the series are scheduled Feb. 23, and March 8 and 22.
