Rising country star Ian Munsick, from Sheridan, will headline Union Fest, a year-end celebration for University of Wyoming students, Friday, May 5, with various activities planned throughout the day. Activities on Prexy’s Pasture -- including Munsick’s concert -- are free and open to the public.

Born and raised on a Sheridan County ranch, Munsick is an innovative country artist with an “old soul and a distinctive tenor,” according to his biography. He emerged in 2017 with a sound that evokes both the windswept vistas of his rural Cowboy State upbringing and the cosmopolitan country-pop of Nashville. Munsick released his wide-ranging, major-label debut, “Coyote Cry,” in 2021, followed by this year’s Old West-themed “White Buffalo.”

South Carolina’s Ashland Craft opens the concert at 5 p.m. She introduced her brand of country music with the debut album, “Travelin’ Kind,” and was selected among CMT’s “Next Women of Country” class of 2021. She was among Pandora’s “Country Artists to Watch” that same year.

Union Fest begins on Simpson Plaza and Prexy’s Pasture at 11 a.m. with food, giveaways, minute-to-win-it games with prizes and more activities. Burgers will be served at 4:30 p.m. on Prexy’s Pasture.

Sound check for the concert will take place in the early afternoon, and alcohol consumption will not be permitted on Prexy’s Pasture throughout the day.

The Wyoming Union and 7220 Entertainment present Union Fest, the all-day outdoor campus celebration marking the end of the 2022-23 academic year.
