B. Lynn Gordon, Ph.D.

Lynn Gordon

Having grown up in the agriculture industry, Dr. Lynn Gordon is an industry advocate with experience in communication, education, and leadership development.

Her passion for leadership and building leadership skills created LEADER Consulting, LLC., where her focus is on spreading the word on having positive business relationships through self-awareness and personal development. She has authored regular leadership columns and articles for regional and national agricultural publications such as BEEF, The Stockman, Joplin Cattlemen’s News, and Progressive Cattle.

She previously served as an Extension Agricultural Leadership Specialist at South Dakota State University and as Director of Agricultural Promotion for the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. She also worked for nearly 15 years as an education and communications director for state and national beef industry organizations. Her doctoral research at the University of Nebraska was focused on “How people rise to leadership roles in the Beef Industry.” She earned her M.A. degree in Business and Marketing Education from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. degree is from North Dakota State University, majoring in Agricultural Economics and Communications. Dr. Gordon is also a graduate of the South Dakota Agricultural Rural Leaders Program (SDARL).

One of her career highlights was teaching a study abroad course and traveling with the college students to learn first-hand about agriculture in Argentina and Uruguay then returning to Uruguay in 2019 to attend the World Angus Conference as a media representative.

Dr. Gordon grew up on a purebred beef cattle and small grain operation in Manitoba, Canada, and her entire family is still actively involved in the beef industry in Canada and the U.S. She currently resides at Grand Island, Neb.
