Dr. Brent Pickett was born and raised in Kansas and attended Wichita State University, where he earned his bachelor’s in political science. He earned his master’s and doctorate, also in political science, from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He joined the University of Wyoming in 2005. He is a full professor and his area of specialization is in political philosophy. He is the author of two books, On the Use and Abuse of Foucault for Politics and Historical Dictionary of Homosexuality, part of a series of historical dictionaries of religions, philosophies, and movements. He has served as a visiting professor at the University of Shanghai, the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (in Tbilisi, the Republic of Georgia), Ludwigsburg University in Germany, and the International Studies University (Shanghai). He has led the University of Wyoming at Casper for more than 11 years. He served as a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission from 2007 to 2014. He also enjoys fly fishing and has caught at least one trout every month of the year for over 24 years.
