Gayl Bowser’s work as an independent consultant focuses on the integration of technology into the educational programs of students with disabilities. In the public school setting she has been a general education teacher, a special education teacher and a school administrator. Currently, Ms. Bowser provides assistive technology consultation, training coaching and mentoring throughout the United States and internationally.
Formerly the Coordinator of the Oregon Technology Access Program (OTAP) and the State of Oregon’s Specialist in Assistive Technology, She has co-authored numerous publications about assistive technology services including Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology: A comprehensive guide to assistive technology services; Education Tech Points: A Framework for Assistive Technology; Assistive Technology Pointers for Parents; and The Assistive Technology Trainer’s Handbook.
Ms. Bowser has a Masters of Science in Education degree from the University of Iowa and is a member of the leadership team of the Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology (QIAT) Consortium. Gayl Bowser has been the recipient of Oregon CEC's Teacher of the Year Award and the Service Award of the National Technology and Medial Division of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC TAM) and was named one of Oregon's Distinguished Educators by the Milken Family Foundation.
