College Leaders and Mentors

Alicia Daniella Avelar-Duarte is from Denver, Colorado majoring in Computer Science. Her hobbies include playing volleyball, going out with friends, taking pictures, and dancing. She is very interested in technology and JDM cars. Alicia is also a WLYC Intern.


Stephanie Galeana Barreto is a Bay Area native from San Jose, California. She graduated with a degree in English from San José State University. She enjoys hiking with her family and listening to her favorite artist, Taylor Swift.


Andrea Becerra is originally from Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology and hopes to be a physical therapist. She loves to hangout with family and friends as well as playing sports.


Taisha Nava Castillo is originally from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in health science. She enjoys playing basketball and swimming. She likes to listen to music, reading, journaling and likes being outside. She also loves hanging out with friends.


Cecelia Curiel is mainly from Oregon though she has lived throughout the Southwest and Pacific Northwest. She received a B.A. in English from Oregon State and is currently pursuing a concurrent Masters in English and Environmental Resources. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion in the outdoors, environmental justice, and storytelling.


Lezly Diaz is a sophomore from Jackson, Wyoming. She is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. In her free time, she likes to camp, paddle board, and attend live music.


Veronica Garcia is a senior majoring in International Studies with minors in Statistics, Japanese, and Honors. Veronica is from Casper, WY but was born in Los Angeles, CA. Her interests include singing, theatre, cooking, and traveling.


Nayeli Hernandez Lopez is from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She is pursuing a concurrent major in Secondary Education and Physics. She likes to spend time in the outdoors, especially skiing, swimming in lakes, and backpacking.


Valeria Tzompa Flores is from Jackson, Wyoming. She is currently a freshman with an undeclared major. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, skiing, and spending time with her dog.


Nohemi Lopez is from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She is a sophomore with an undeclared business major, with the goal to help her family's business. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, swimming, and singing to Bad Bunny.


Jesica Tzompa Martinez is from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She is pursuing a degree in Health Science with an Honors minor. She enjoys swimming, spending time outdoors, and hiking with friends.


Yocelyn Martinez, originally of Tlaxcala, Mexico is a graduate from Jackson Hole High School. Yocelyn is knowledgeable in traditional folklorico and Pan-Latinx dance. She co-facilitated a dance workshop for 10th-12th graders at WLYC. 


Alexa Mejia is from Cheyenne, Wyoming. She’s currently majoring in molecular biology with a minor in chemistry. She enjoys crocheting, reading, and hanging out with friends. Alexa is also a WLYC Intern.

 

Benjamin Piña is originally from Houston, TX. He is pursuing a concurrent degree in Environmental Systems Science and Natural Resources. He loves to be outdoors, hit the mountain on his skis, and do anything music.


Lucy Preza Ramos, originally of Tlaxcala, Mexico is a graduate from Jackson Hole High School. Lucy is knowledgeable in traditional folklorico and Pan-Latinx dance. She co-facilitated a dance workshop for 10th-12th graders at WLYC. 


Natalie Reyes-Aguilar is a junior from Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is majoring in Communications with a minor in Digital Media. Her hobbies include painting and baking. She also works with MEChA.


Areli Roldan Rivera was born and raised in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for almost her entire life. She is currently planning on majoring in Business Marketing at the University of Wyoming. Her interests include anything to do with art like drawing, painting, sculptures, digital art, etc She also enjoys watching basketball, movies, and hanging out with friends.


Alejandro Jimenez Vazquez, originally from Tlaxcala, Mexico, grew up the majority of his life in Jackson, Wyoming. He is pursuing a B.S. in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management with a concentration in Cultural and International Tourism. He is really interested in how people experience the outdoors and how access to nature for under-resourced communities can be improved. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, traveling, writing, drawing, and listening to whatever audio media fits the mood (music, podcasts, etc.).
