Cherol graduated from Westmont College with a B.S. in chemistry, followed by a teaching certificate from Santa Clara University. She taught high school chemistry for several years, followed by working in an environmental lab. She then worked at a bentonite plant in process control and research and development. The birth of her first child created a desire to move into healthcare, starting as a CNA and graduating with an associate’s degree in nursing at Gillette College three years later. She also obtained her EMT and volunteered with EMS for five years. Cherol worked as an RN for Crook County Medical Services District in the inpatient and emergency departments for four years, discovering a passion for rural and frontier medicine. Her desire to serve rural areas drove her to pursue medicine as the next step in helping her community. In Cherol's free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, especially when they are riding their horses, hiking, fishing, and going on adventures down infrequently traveled county roads.
