In May 2011, UW's Board of Trustees asked the UW administration to explore the implications of a revised set of standards for admission to the university. The board's intention was to provide clear, evidence-based guidance to parents and students about the minimum high school curriculum required for success in college. Following extensive discussions within the university community and among external stakeholders the Board adopted new standards in November 2011.
