Next Steps for Admitted International Students

We are so pleased that you have been admitted to the University of Wyoming. Admissions and the International Students and Scholars staff look forward to greeting you upon your arrival in Laramie. Before that happens, though, we wanted to alert you to several important reminders as you prepare for your journey to Wyoming.

  • Confirm Your Enrollment - Undergraduate, bachelor's degree-seeking, students only. This is a required step that lets us know that you intend to enroll at UW.

  • Mandatory Orientation - Attendance at this essential program is required of all new international students. It will be held on August 21 & 22, 2013. Please watch your email for more information regarding time and location.You must also check-in with International Students and Scholars in Suite 5, basement of Cheney International Center anytime between 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM immediately after your arrival in Laramie. Be sure you bring all of your immigration documents with you.

  • Create Your WyoWeb Account - If you haven't already done so, please create your WyoWeb account so you can receive important notices from the University.

  • Submit Immunization Forms - All students must provide proof of two doses of the MMR immunization before registering for classes. International students may also need to undergo tuberculosis testing after arrival at UW. For further information about the MMR vaccination or the tuberculosis testing requirements, please contact Student Health Service.

  • Accommodations and Housing - If you plan to live on campus, apply immediately. If you will live off-campus, start your apartment search now. All freshmen (1st-year, bachelor's degree-seeking students) are required to live on campus.

  • Math Placement Examination - Only required for freshmen and some other undergraduate students. Information from this exam will be used to place these students in math or math-related classes.

  • Advising - Undergraduate, bachelor's degree-seeking students and graduate students may contact their departments directly to get advised and registered. You may do this remotely from your home countries or current residences or you may do this once you arrive on campus.

     

  • Textbooks - If you are already registered for classes, you can order your textbooks online.

  • Student Medical Insurance - International students are required to have medical insurance. Learn more.

  • Transportation to Laramie - Learn how to get to Laramie, Wyoming once you've arrived in the United States. Please notify ISS at UWGlobal@uwyo.edu of your travel plans as soon as you make them.

  • Like International Students and Scholars on Facebook - This is a great way to connect with other University of Wyoming international students!

  • Student Visa Information - Learn tips and information about applying for your student visa.

  • Contact Us - Please notify the International Students and Scholars office as soon as you've made your travel arrangements or if your plans change and you will arrive late or if you will not be coming to UW this fall.


Again, we want to warmly welcome you to the University of Wyoming. We are so pleased that you will be joining us. Aside from providing immigration support, International Students and Scholars also plans many fun activities for our international community and the community at large. You can look forward to celebrating many exciting events during your time here at UW. Some of the annual events that our office helps support are the Chinese New Year, International Week and Talent Show, Diwali Night, Turkish Night, the International Etiquette Dinner and many others. Also, every Friday during the academic year, ISS and the International Student Association co-host an International Coffee Hour in the Wyoming Student Union from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. You will also receive information on several other welcome events during the course of the year. And, of course, we always encourage suggestions from our students about other possible events.
