The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) for Transfer Students

The University of Wyoming will recognize non-resident transfer students as recipients of the Western Undergraduate Exchange award. Transfer students who have earned an associate’s degree with a 3.4 gpa or higher and who are from a WUE state (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, ND, OR, SD, UT, WA and CNMI) will pay tuition at 150% of the resident tuition rate for 2 years.  Annual value of $9,675. (Approximately $9,300 value for spring 2017)

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

For transfer students to be considered for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE), the UW Admissions Office must have the following:

  • Application for admission and the non-refundable $40 admission application fee
  • Official college transcripts
  • Proof of associate's degree  (typically reflected on transcript)

Students selected to receive the WUE Scholarship must confirm their enrollment at UW by August 1, 11:59 pm MDT, for students beginning in the fall semester.

Initial Eligibility and Scholarship Compliance

  • The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is only available to first-time, entering non-resident transfer students seeking their first bachelor's degree whom have earned an associate's degree and have a minimum of a 3.4 transfer GPA.
  • This scholarship is renewable for up to 4 semesters (2 academic years) or up to the first bachelor's degree whichever comes first. 
  • Students must maintain full-time continuous enrollment (12 semester hours) during the fall and spring semesters each year but is not available to use during the summer semester.
  • Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative UW GPA (evaluated at the end of each Spring semester).

All UW scholarships are subject to available funding and are only available for eligible admits.
