Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Scholarships
The University of Wyoming is a proud participant in the Western Undergraduate Exchange program.
UW will recognize a select number of first time freshman students from 15 western states for their academic excellence (high school GPA, test scores, and academic rigor) to receive a discounted tuition rate equal to 150% of our resident tuition rates. While the total value of this award will vary based on a recipient's courseload and on the tuition rates established by the UW Board of Trustees each year, the approximate value/savings for a student taking 15 credit hours each semester in the 2011-2012 school year is approximately $7,000. Because of the value of the WUE award, students chosen for this award will not receive Rocky Mountain Scholars Awards, but may be considered for additional scholarships through UW colleges, departments and other scholarship awarding entities (see below). Awards are limited and competitive.
The selection of recipients in the 2012 Fall freshman class will begin after December 1, 2011. For full WUE Scholarship consideration, students must be a resident of a WUE participating state* and have all of the following items submitted to the UW Admission Office so they arrive prior to December 1, 2011:
- Complete admissions application
- $40 application fee
- Official high school transcripts
- Official ACT/SAT test scores
* WUE participating states include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, or Washington
This scholarship is only available to first-time, entering freshmen seeking their first bachelor's degree, but is renewable for up to 8 semesters (4 years). Students must maintain full-time enrollment (12 semester hours) during the Fall and Spring semesters each year and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA (evaluated at the end of each Spring semester).
Due to the competitive nature of this award, it is only awarded to new freshmen beginning at UW in the Fall semester and cannot be deferred. WUE awards are competitive and the total number of awards are limited.
Students selected to receive the WUE Scholarship must confirm their enrollment at UW by May 1st. Students will receive instructions on how to confirm their enrollment after being admitted.
All UW scholarships are subject to available funding.
