Sans façon Public Art Project for Laramie

Sans façon is an art practice that responds to the relationship between people and place.

The internationally renowned Sans façon (Tristan Surtees and Charles Blanc) began a preliminary research project about Laramie following their first visit to the University of Wyoming in Fall 2015. Their interest in Laramie, Wyoming was inspired in part by the unique community-university partnership that facilitated their visit to Laramie originally, and, after spending some time here, by the people, the community, and its history. As a result, an interdisciplinary group of UW faculty and administrators along with community leaders are pursuing a larger, multi-year, research project with Sans façon.

Surtees and Blanc will return to Laramie in April 2018 for continued research and community interactions. Their visit will culminate in a collaborative community event and plan for a large-scale public art project in Laramie in the future.

If you're interested in getting involved in this exciting project, please contact Mary Katherine Scott, mkscott@uwyo.edu, UW Global Engagement Office.
