The Intensive ESL Program in the English Language Center at the University of Wyoming is a 20-hour per week, 15 week-long semester academic English program. The IEP offers four levels of proficiency, from Beginner to Advanced. The curriculum for each level requires a semester of full-time study. Depending on where students begin in the program, each student is eligible for a minimum of one semester and may continue for up to two years of in Intensive ESL instruction. A student’s starting level, and the time required for their English study, will be determined after they arrive and have taken placement tests. Students may take and retake individual classes as needed until satisfactory ITP TOEFL scores show that they have achieved English language proficiency requirements for the program(s) of academic study they are interested in. Students can use these scores to complete the language proficiency requirements for undergraduate degree applications for the University of Wyoming.
