Tau Kappa Epsilon was founded in 1899 in Bloomington, Illinois. Since their founding 120 years ago, they have credited men 'Not for Wealth, Rank, of Honor" but for "Personal Worth and Character'. This means that they are the only Fraternity founded at the time to never had an exclusionary caused based on race, religion, ethnicity, or socio-economic status in the world.
Tau Kappa Epsilon believes heavily that their Fraternity is strengthened in that it is made up as 'Many Men as One Man'. This means they do not recruit to change men but instead recruit based on their current qualities and work to strengthen those. It is because of this ideal that Tau Kappa Epsilon was the largest Fraternity in the World for almost five decades, with famous alumni including Ronald Reagan, Elvis PResley, Steve Forbes, and Howard Shultz among others.
Tau Kappa Epsilon was founded at the University of Wyoming as the Gamma-Alpha Chapter in 1949 with close to 400 lifetime initiates. They are excited to rejoin the UW campus in Fall 2019 and are looking to recruit the highest quality of men from all corners of campus to do Fraternity life better and differently.
They state, "We are looking for men who are wanting to show a strong commitment to philanthropy and community service-both in the Laramie community and across the country. We are looking for anyone from freshmen to seniors who meet our academic requirements, share our values, and bring a unique perspective to Fraternity Life in hopes of building a Championship Culture."
