MarketingMarketing -- or the generation of revenue -- is perhaps the most important function in any business. To succeed, businesses must understand how to find and keep profitable customers. Our marketing major will help you acquire the skills necessary to make that happen.

Marketing embraces a wide area of highly specialized and technical occupations such as merchandising and consumer and product research, as well as general fields such as retailing, advertising, and professional selling.

In our marketing major, you'll acquire the tools to understand consumer behavior, product development and market research, the psychology behind purchasing decisions, and effective methods of getting products and services to consumers.

Your career options will be unlimited with a marketing major. Some of our students have pursued such exciting careers as:

  • Product manager

  • Franchiser

  • Marketing manager

  • Fund raiser

  • Market researcher

  • Sales manager

  • Media buyer

  • Sales promotion manager

  • Public relations director

Course Requirements for Marketing Major

All College of Business majors are required to meet general education requirements through the University Studies requirements, as well as preparatory classes in economics, English, communication, mathematics, statistics, and computer science that are required for Advanced Business Standing. Elective courses available to our students:

Your elective courses will be chosen from both the College of Business and other parts of the University. These courses will help broaden your perspectives and extend your understanding in your areas of interest. We will be happy to help you build your skills in an area inside or outside the college that complements your marketing interests. This complementary course of study will enable you to develop a secondary area of expertise and distinguish yourself when it is time for you to graduate and enter the workforce.

Some areas of complementary specialization we suggest are psychology, communications, statistics, foreign languages, sociology, or social anthropology.
