University of Wyoming faculty and students work with "preceptors" - nurses who mentor our students in a variety of clinical settings. The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing, in an effort to recognize preceptors--especially those who go above and beyond--presents an award annually to a preceptor in those UW School of Nursing programs with clinical components. Students nominate preceptors for these awards.
The preceptor chosen from BRAND is Brenda Eaton, who works as a nurse at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins, Wyoming. The student who nominated our winner said the following:
Brenda was a major influence in my capstone experience. She was patient, kind, and
open for any question thrown at her. Her guidance led me to believe in myself and
allow me to learn in a comfortable environment. She pushed me, but not past my limits.
She acknowledged my strengths and weaknesses. My clinical experience was one for the
books, and she helped give me a strong desire to continue this journey I am on.
I am thankful for Brenda, and strive to be half the nurse she is one day!
